Haryana: Selja says govt must verify stocks of all rice mills in state

AICC general secretary and former Union minister Kumari Selja on Monday advocated for verification of stocks, books and details related to procurement of paddy by the rice millers. She claimed that under the BJP-JJP coalition government in Haryana, the rice millers had committed large-scale frauds in the procurement of paddy.

“They have procured cheap rice from Uttar Pradesh and filled their warehouses while not paying the market fee to the state government. In this fraud, some officers associated with purchase agencies are also involved. Physical verification of all the millers should be done so that the truth can come to light,” Selja said. “How can the government, which talks about a corruption-free administration, overlook such scams,” she asked. Selja said a fraud of nearly Rs 5.50 crore had been reported from the mandi at Cheeka, adding: “It is not new. Such complaints are also reported at mandis in Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, and Yamunanagar districts.”
