Madhya Pradesh :Rice worth Rs 50L meant for PDS seized at Balaghat mill.

A district administration team in Balaghat seized rice worth Rs 50 lakh that was meant for distribution under the public distribution system from a rice mill.

Balaghat food and civil supplies officer Sunil Kirar said following the order of district collector Mrinal Meena, a team of administrative officers led by SDM Waraseoni RR Pandey raided Shlok Rice Mill in Bahrai village at around 10pm on Friday night.

During the inspection, 2000 quintals of rice intended for public distribution were recovered from inside the warehouse. The inspection revealed fortified rice kernels which are found only in rice meant for the public distribution system.Mill operator Sanjay Chhutwani mentioned that the rice was brought from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for trading purposes.

The administrative team recorded a statement and prepared a case on the spot. The rice was handed over to the mill operator.
