Nagpur: Rice mill gutted, property worth ₹1cr destroyed

 A major fire broke out at a rice mill at Mahalgaon Kapsi area on Friday morning. Fire tenders from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Kamptee Nagar Parishad and others rushed to the spot on being informed.

It took firefighters five to six hours to douse the flames which engulfed part of the rice mill.

Sources said the reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained but no one was injured in the incident.

As per sources, the fire started in one of the units of the rice mill which is spread across a huge area. The fire spread quickly due to rice husk waste, and engulfed machinery and other materials.

The owner estimated the losses at ₹1 crore while the fire fighters, led by Sakkardara fire station official Prakash Kawadkar, claimed to have saved property worth ₹13 crore. The fire fighting efforts continued till 4.30pm.
