Jharkhand: CBI raids premises of FCI contractor.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday raided the house and godown of a contractor associated with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in Giridih.

In the raid that lasted for five hours, CBI recovered incriminating papers related to FCI, property details, bank account details, agreements. CBI has registered a case against Ramji Pandey, a handling contractor (private person) of FCI. The case was lodged on the basis of a complaint received from general manager (region), Food Corporation of India, Ranchi and notifications issued by the state and central govts.

“It was alleged that in June, 2023, the accused, handling contractor of FCI, in criminal conspiracy with others misappropriated and embezzled 3,000 bags of wheat and 2,800 bags of rice worth Rs 96 lakh at PEG Suriya Godown-I. Probe is on,” said CBI.
