In a major action, the Collector of Tikamgarh district in Madhya Pradesh took decisive action, seizing 15,000 quintals of wheat that were about to be loaded onto a train bound for Assam.
The seizure was made after following instructions of collector Vivek Shrotriya. Raid was led by SDM Lokendra Singh, Tehsildar Kuldeep Singh, and Food Officer Lalit Mehra at Amit Traders’ premises in the Krishi Upaj Mandi.
The wheat, valued at approximately Rs 5 crore, was found loaded onto 55 trucks. The authorities had received intelligence that a large quantity of wheat was being stored in the market, and after the Collector’s orders, a thorough investigation revealed the trader’s plan to transport the wheat via railway to Assam.
The trader had an authorized limit of only 2,500 quintals of wheat. When asked to provide documents for the additional stock, he was unable to do so. As a result, the Food Department took immediate legal action, seizing all the goods.

The 55 trucks have been placed under police surveillance, and the administration is continuing its investigation into the illegal stockpiling and transportation of the wheat. Action would be taken under the essential commodities act. The stocks maintained by the farmers are also being verified.
