Haryana to get Asia’s largest oil mill: CM Saini

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said that the state government has prepared a project to set up Asia’s largest oil (mustard) mill in south Haryana. There are also plans to set up a big oil (sunflower) mill in Kurukshetra.

The project will be implemented soon and lakh of farmers will benefit from this, the CM said.

Saini was speaking at a function organised by the Gram Panchayat at Samani village in Kurukshetra on Sunday for a programme organised in connection with the Prime Minister’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address.

PM Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the citizens for the 120th episode of Mann Ki Baat and congratulated players of Khelo India Para Games. In these games, Haryana players won 104 medals, including 34 gold medals, 39 silver medals and 31 bronze medals.

Saini said that ponds are being built under the Catch the Rain scheme. The work of building 2,000 ponds has been completed in the state and in the coming time, 2200 new ponds will be built in the state.

He added that farmers are being appealed to collect rainwater in the fields and in gram panchayat land so that water can be conserved and the state can come out of the dark zone.

He said the people of South Haryana are getting more crop yield and on the same lines, farmers in other areas of the state should also adopt drip irrigation systems and conserve water by making ponds under the Atal Bhujal Yojana. The state government has proposed to the Union Jal Shakti Minister to make ponds under Atal Bhujal Yojana to take 86 blocks out of the dark zone and the Union Water Minister has approved this proposal as well.

He said 77,000 applications were received under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Haryana. Out of these, an amount of Rs 151 crore has been deposited in the accounts of 36,000 applicants and money will be deposited in the accounts of the remaining 41,000 applicants under the scheme soon.

In a separate function, the CM flagged off the Sonipat Half Marathon organised at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Sonipat. He said that the aim of such events is to make the state aware against drugs so that Haryana can be made drug-free. He called upon the entire society to unite against drugs.
