Increase exemption limit for moisture content in wheat from 12% to14%:Hooda

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has stated that the people should not forget Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedekar’s mantra ‘Be educated, stay organised, and struggle’.

Paying floral tributes to the late leader on his birth anniversary in Rohtak on Monday, Hooda said the country and society could progress only by following Dr Ambedkar’s teachings and the path shown by him.

The ceremony was organised by the Haryana Dalit and Backward Class Welfare Association.

Reiterating Dr Ambedkar’s contribution in the making of the Constitution, Hooda pointed out that his father late Ranbir Singh Hooda was also a member of the committee constituted to prepare the Constitution.

“It is a matter of great pride that the Constitution, which bears the signatures of Babasaheb, also has the signatures of my late father,” he said.

Hooda also talked to the farmers on the occasion, who complained about difficulties in procurement of their wheat produce at the local mandis.

“The farmers told me that the government agencies are refusing to buy wheat, citing high moisture content. The wheat has high moisture content due to unseasonal rains. Hence, the exemption limit for moisture content in wheat should be increased from 12 per cent to 14 per cent,” he stated.

The Congress leader lamented that the crops of the farmers were destroyed due to unseasonal rains, and the government failed to make proper arrangements of gunny bags and tarpaulins in the mandis, or ensure timely lifting of the produce.

“Hence, the farmers have to bear the brunt of the natural calamity as well as government negligence,” he remarked.
