NTPC units sign green energy pacts in India, Japan

Indian power utility NTPC Ltd (BOM:532555) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of the Indian state of Gujarat to examine opportunities in the conventional and non-conventional energy sectors.

In a separate stock exchange announcement, NTPC Green Energy Ltd (BOM:544289) said its subsidiary NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd signed a MoU with the Gujarat government for the development of 10 GW of solar projects and 5 GW of wind projects in the state. Further details were not provided.The agreements were signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Mehsana, Gujarat.

The company aims to reach 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032.

Separately, NTPC Green Energy said today it has signed a MoU with Japan’s ENEOS Corp to explore a potential agreement to supply green methanol and green hydrogen derivative products to the Japanese company.The MoU, inked at World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, concerns the green hydrogen hub that NTPC Green Energy is developing at Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh
