Andhra Pradesh: Sathya Sai dist police arrest ‘Dal Mill Suri’ for cheating farmers of Rs 300 crore

Sri Sathya Sai district police have arrested notorious businessman Morimishetti Suresh, also known as ‘Dal Mill Suri’ of Kothacheruvu, for allegedly orchestrating a multi-state fraud through which he cheated farmers and traders in excess of Rs 300 crore under the guise of his pulse mill business.

Confirming the arrest, district SP S SatishKumar said 53-year-old Dal Mill Suri lured farmers and small traders with promises of high profits, made them purchase large quantities of food grains on credit, and then defrauded them by defaulting the payments. “Suri has an extensive criminal history, with 57 cases registered against him across several states, including 52 cases in Andhra Pradesh (26 in Sri Sathya Sai district) and five cases in Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, and other states,” he said.

The accused’s criminal activities are not limited to white-collar crime alone. He is also said to be involved in physical assaults and atrocities against SC/ST communities. Police have designated Dal Mill Suri as an ‘organized criminal’ and invoked the PD Act (Prevention of Dangerous Activities) against him. The district police wing has also initiated the process to confiscate the properties amassed through his crime proceeds.
