Unseasonal rains damage standing paddy crop in Mancherial
Standing paddy crop was damaged due to unseasonal rains occurred in different parts of the district on Friday.
The average rainfall of the district was gauged to be 10.7 mm. Kasipet mandal saw the highest rainfall of 41.2 mm, followed by Jaipur mandal which received 23.7 mm of rainfall. Bellampalli, Nennal, Dandepalli and Bheemini mandals recorded over 15 mm of rainfall. The district registered 1,028 mm of rainfall as against the normal rainfall of 1,015 mm from June 1 to November 2.
Due to unexpected rains, standing crop was flattened in Jaipur, Kasipet, Dandepalli, Nennal, Bheemini mandals, causing losses to farmers. The growers requested the officials of the agriculture department to carry out a survey to assess crop damage and to take steps to extend compensation.
