BMW Group selects Enilive HVO biofuel for fleet programme

Eni and BMW Group have agreed to fuel BMW corporate fleet vehicles in Italy with HVOlution, Enilive’s hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) biofuel produced entirely from renewable feedstocks. Enilive’s HVO recorded an average CO₂eq emissions reduction of 79.5% across the supply chain in 2025, against the fossil reference mix.

The HVO is being used by BMW’s corporate demo and development fleets across Italy, Germany, and Austria, where approximately 1,700 Enilive stations supply HVOlution. BMW Group has approved HVO for diesel models registered from late 2014 onwards with a Generation B diesel engine, compliant with European standard EN 15940.

Within the fleet, BMW Group is developing a traceability system cross-referencing vehicle refuelling data with fleet operator payment records, creating a transparent audit trail of fuel use. BMW Italia is also providing HVOlution vouchers to all customers of new diesel vehicles in Italy.

Produced from waste and residues including used cooking oil and animal fats, HVOlution is a drop-in fuel that requires no engine or infrastructure modification. With more than 250 million existing vehicles on Europe’s roads, BMW Group views renewable fuels as one of the most readily available routes to reducing fleet CO₂eq emissions.
