Dabwali (Haryana )rice purchase: Action taken on alleged corruption

Cabinet Minister Anil Vij, who has expressed dissatisfaction with his own government, is seeking action in Sirsa following his complaints.

Two months ago, during a grievance redressal meeting, BJP leader and Haryana Seed Development Corporation Chairman Dev Kumar Sharma raised concerns about the Hafed manager in Dabwali allegedly mismanaging rice procurement and demanding commissions. Vij ordered the Sirsa DC to take action.

The investigation report reached the DC in late January. A letter issued on January 29 by the Sirsa DC Shantanu Sharma recommended disciplinary action against Hafed Manager Mukesh Kumar. In the letter, the DC recommends Hafed’s Managing Director to charg sheet and suspend the manager for his alleged misconduct during the paddy procurement process in Dabwali.

Dev Kumar said he had raised the issue with Vij after traders reported the manager was demanding Rs 130 from them, even though they were only entitled to a Rs 48 commission. Despite attempts to resolve the issue with the manager, the complaint was tafen to Vij, who acted quickly.

Although there was a delay in action, Kumar believes that effective action in this regard would be a deterrant for other corrupt officials.
