Telangana: Two arrested for selling PDS rice in Erragadda

The Task Force (West) team along with the Civil Supplies officials arrested two persons on charges of illegally selling the PDS rice and wheat at Sultan Nagar in Erragadda on Friday. Officials seized 1250 kg of PDS wheat and 1300 kg of PDS rice from them.

The arrested duo – Rajashekar and Shaik Shareef in nexus with various fair price shop dealers procured PDS rice from beneficiaries for Rs 10 per kg. They further sold the same rice to tiffin vendors and restaurants at Rs 18 per kg.

Two accused were caught running an illegal racket by sourcing subsidized grains from ration shops and selling them at higher prices to vendors. A total of 51 bags of rice and wheat along with two mobile phones were seized. The operation was led by Inspector Ch. Yadander and the team of Civil Supplies officials.
