MP: Ujjain-Shajapur region set to be hub for green energy

The Ujjain-Shajapur region is likely to transform into a new powerhouse for green energy and solar equipment manufacturing in the state.

Chief minister Mohan Yadav ushered in the new era of industrial growth and green energy for the Malwa region on Sunday after he performed foundation-laying ceremony and inauguration of six industrial units in Shajapur district, representing a combined investment of approximately Rs 8,174 crore.

The capital infusion is anticipated to generate direct and indirect employment for over 15,000 people in the region.

Speaking at the ceremony at Dussehra Grounds in Maksi industrial area, Yadav said that the Ujjain-Shajapur region, known for its soft culture and fertile land was now poised to become a central hub for green energy.

“With blessings of Baba Mahakal, the sacred region of Ujjain-Shajapur will become a production centre for all equipment used in green energy production. Maksi will establish itself as Central India’s green manufacturing hub, bringing processing, packaging, and storage facilities closer to local farmers,” he said.

The foundation stone was laid for the construction unit of M/s Jackson Integrated Solar Limited that will come up with an investment of Rs 7,104.89 crore. The unit is scheduled to be operational by July 2026.

Yadav highlighted the strategic importance of the region, stating that Ujjain, Dewas, and Shajapur were together emerging as Madhya Pradesh’s new industrial triad.

“The biggest strength of the Ujjain-Dewas-Shajapur corridor is its all-time connectivity,” he said, adding the area has rapidly transformed into a major centre for green energy, manufacturing, MSMEs, and energy equipment production.

The event also featured inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony of 20 development projects in Shajapur district, valued at over Rs 487.36 crore.
