Telangana ready to offer rice to Kerala: Uttam
The Kerala state govt has expressed its willingness to buy two lakh metric tonnes of boiled rice and red chilli from Telangana. Kerala’s civil supplies and food minister GR Anil-led delegation held discussions with civil supplies minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday.
The Kerala govt also evinced interest in purchasing Vijetha and Swarna varieties of rice from the state. Uttam said the state government will extend all support to Kerala in purchasing the two agricultural products from Telangana.Uttam provided assurance that Telangana could readily meet Kerala’s rice needs at a competitive price.
To expedite the process, civil supplies commissioner DS Chauhan has been directed to explore possibilities and draft a comprehensive plan of action, collaborating with his counterpart in Kerala.
“The discussions were attended by senior officials from both states to iron out the requirements and modalities. If realized, such an agreement is poised to bring significant benefits to both Kerala and Telangana,” said Uttam.
